The Massachusetts Call/Volunteer Firefighters’ Association (MCVFA) provides information, education, and training for the call/volunteer fire and emergency medical services throughout the Commonwealth. Since 1990, we’ve proudly helped support, inform, educated, and train call/volunteer fire and EMS members.
Who we are and what we do
On February 26, 1990, a group of 40 Call/Volunteer Firefighters representing 14 Southeastern Massachusetts fire departments met in Carver to discuss the concept of starting a Statewide Call/Volunteer Firefighters’ Association. This meeting was organized by the Carver Firefighters Association and Carver Fire Chief Dana E. Harriman. Since then, the Massachusetts Call/Volunteer Firefighters’ Association (MCVFA) has proudly helped support, inform, educate and train call/volunteer fire and EMS members throughout the Commonwealth.
To be a call/volunteer firefighter or EMT, it takes a fearless, selfless individual willing to face life-threatening emergencies and put their own life on the line to help another human being. The MCVFA is committed to providing Massachusetts call/volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians with everything they need to aid them and promote awareness about the vital role they play in the safety of our communities. Please help us fulfill our mission.

The MCVFA strives to provide programming, training, and resources for its members and community. The MCVFA relies heavily on the support of its members through dues, but dues are not enough to continue the programs we all enjoy presently. Now more than ever, we need your help.
The MCVFA needs your help with a new fundraising initiative called the MCVFA Fund. As a member organization and a 501(c)(3), we really need your assistance and commitment with supporting the longevity of our programs through our efforts to provide information, education, and training for the call/volunteer fire service throughout the state. Gifts of all sizes truly benefit our members and the communities we serve by providing funding for scholarships, fire prevention and life safety, health and wellness, training, and education among other important items. Your support makes the difference between opportunity and limitations.
The MCVFA is committed to providing support to the call/volunteer fire and EMS service in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Through its membership, the MCVFA helps to provide up-to-date education and training opportunities, recruitment and retention resources, fights for state and national legislation, and awards scholarships. But in order to offer the resources and programs that help call/volunteer fire and emergency service departments thrive throughout Massachusetts, the MCVFA must rely heavily upon the backing of its membership and community.
Please help to ensure the vitality and longevity of the call/volunteer fire service in Massachusetts.
The MCVFA Fund has several options for your donation. As part of the fundraising initiative, you have the option to designate your donation to support a specific program of your choice:
Health & Wellness
In an effort to bring attention to the critical issue of health and wellness for first responders, the MCVFA promotes issues related to cancer, heart health and general wellness.
Fire Prevention Education
The MCVFA assists in procuring and improving resources and programs for member departments providing fire prevention education in their communities.
The MCVFA works to develop, plan and promote fire and emergency medical service workshops for its members. These workshops are continually being evaluated and updated to ensure that the MCVFA presents the most relevant and up-to-date information.
Recruitment and Retention
The MCVFA assists member departments to devise means of attracting and retaining call/volunteer emergency personnel through media advertising to get the message to the general public that their help is needed in their respective communities.
Robert J. Hindley Memorial Scholarship
Every year since 1997, MCVFA members or immediate family members currently pursuing or planning to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies, vocational training, a certification program or job skills training have been awarded a Hindley Scholarship to continue their post-secondary education at a college or an accredited institution of their choice. Your donation supports the continuation of this program.
Thank you for helping us to support Massachusetts call and volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Your donation will help fund important programs and initiatives that affect the lives of those who serve our communities.
Whether you are making a single donation today or wish to make a bequest or give a gift in honor or in memory of, you have the option to designate your donation to support a specific program of your choice.
The MCVFA Fund welcomes donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
