Clinical scenario. You are part of an ALS unit that just got to the scene of a structure fire to relieve the prior unit. The firefighters have been working on fire suppression for 2 hours. You are asked to come evaluate a 38-year-old firefighter. He came out of the building 5 minutes ago and is sitting on the ground next to the structure complaining of generalized weakness and you are told his breathing seems labored.
